Passing of Firefighter Ken Reagan

It is with a heavy heart we must announce the passing of Lifelong member Ken Reagan.

Kenneth P. Reagan, age 85, died on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home in Warren. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Plainfield before moving to Warren 63 years ago.

Mr. Reagan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Rutger ‘s University.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church for over 55 years and served as an usher.

Mr. Reagan was a Project Manager for various prestigious construction companies such as Frank Briscoe Construction. He worked on the Meadowlands and Mile High Stadium and many others.

He was a former Chief of the Mount Bethel Fire Department, serving as a volunteer fireman for over 55 years.He was a life member of the NJ State Fireman’s Relief Association and represented Somerset County. He was also a member of NJ State Fire Chief’s Association. In addition he was an original member of the Auxiliary Police Department of Warren, an honorary member of the Warren PBA and a volunteer of the Warren Extrication Team.

Mr. Reagan was an excellent carpenter and artist. He loved the Yankees, Giants and animals but most of all, he loved his family.

He is predeceased by his son, Brian Reagan in 2005 and his brother, Terrance Crockett.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Doris J. Lauer Reagan; his daughter, Shelley Reagan-Binazeski and her husband, Gary; his daughter-in-law, Sally Pierson Reagan; his sisters, Joan Shields, Bernice Kleile and Barbara Crockett; his grandchildren, Keli and Michael and his great-grandson, Brian Kenneth.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, March 25th at 12:15 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel. Interment will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his loving memory to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Northern New Jersey Chapter, 14 Commerce Drive, Suite 301, Cranford, NJ 07016 or to the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care 1900 Raritan Road Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.

Chimney Fire – 5 Dead River Road

Units from the Warren Township Fire Department responded to a caller reporting flames shooting from the roof of 5 Dead River road just after 9pm on February 1st. The fire was contained within the chimney and was quickly knocked down. Fire units cleared the scene after determining that no fire had spread beyond the chimney.

Car Fire Route 78 W

The Warren Township Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire on Interstate Route 78 West at approximately 08:19AM on October 22. Engine companies from Mount Bethel Fire Company #1 and Washington Valley Fire Company #4 responded to extinguish the fire. An engine company from Community Fire Company #3 stood by in the event another incident occurred in town.

Mount Bethel Fire Company covers Berkeley Heights

On July 16th, The Mount Bethel Fire Company #1 provided a fully staffed engine company (61-101) to provide fire response coverage for Berkeley Heights along with an engine company from Kenilworth Fire Department and a truck company from Berkeley Heights Fire Department.

During this stand-by Berkeley Heights, Chatham, Stirling, New Providence, and Millington Fire Departments were providing multiple stand-by assignments at the Feast of Mount Carmel Fair/Fireworks.

The 4 Fire Companies of Warren Township always stand ready to provide assistance to any of our neighboring (or beyond) communities.

61-115 has arrived!

We’re putting the finishing touches on our new Crimson 105′ Areal Platform. After nearly a year in planning, nine months of construction and almost 3,000 miles of driving across country from the factory, the truck has finally arrived. Putting a new fire truck into active service is a lot of work. We’ve been busy training with the manufacturer on operations, safety procedures, and driver training. We hope to have it in service soon!

Northern Somerset County Mutual Aid Drill

On Sunday March 4, 2012 the Warren Township Fire Department participated with Northern County Mutual Aid Group in a large scale drill involving a commercial structure in Bernards Township. This drill had over 13 different departments and over 120 firefighters and EMS personal participate. The drill consisted of several large area building searches, RIC practice, Haz-Mat response, and forcible entry. All members greatly enjoyed the drill and learned many new things. Also a special thank you to Liberty Corner Fire Company for hosting the drill and providing food and refreshments.
